Vintage 2013 represents the inaugural “Quatreaux” release. It is a blend of four classic Bordeaux varietals grown on the mountainsides of four exceptional Napa Valley estates. All the grapes were harvested on the same day. The Cabernet Sauvignon came off our own Alta Vineyard; the Merlot from Stagecoach Vineyard, the Cabernet Franc from Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Petit Verdot from Greenwood in Calistoga.

The four varietals, each at peak ripeness, were co-fermented with native yeasts in an open top tank, giving us this sublime, medium body meritage. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are the backbone of this wine, bringing rich texture and supple tannins with beautiful floral notes and dark, ripe berry aromas. The Cabernet Franc has harmonized and stretched out the tannins for a long finish, while also supporting the floral and fruit aromas with hints of tobacco. The Petit Verdot further extends the floral infused bouquet of the wine. After fermentation, the wine was aged for twenty months in French oak, of which 65% was “new wood” and 35% second year.
