2015 "Oso Malo" Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley (Atlas Peak) - Released October 2018
The grapes are sourced from our very own Alta Vineyard in the Atlas Peak District of the Napa Valley. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Verdot and 2% Merlot grapes were aged in a mixtue of 70% new and 30% second year French oak barrels for 20 months. Grapes enjoyed a normal ripening season in 2014 and the harvest benefited from the indian summer weather we had in September and October of 2014. The wine has chewy, yet soft and velvet like tannins and it is showing great structure and balance at this early stage. The wine should age well for the next 10 to 12 years. No additives, fining or filtration.
Rober Parker 93 Points : "Oso Malo delivers notions of baked blackberries, black cherry pie and plum pudding with hints of tree berk, mocha and Indian spices. Very big, voluptuous and full-bodied on the palate, it features loads of spicy layers and a rm frame of grainy tannins, nishing long and spicy."
James Suckling 89 Points : "A ripe Cabernet Sauvignon with leather, vanilla, chocolate and brambleberries. Full-bodied with round tannins, fine acidity and a fruit forward finish."
